Chiswick Parish Church

Our Heritage

The current building, dating largely from the 1880s (although the tower is fifteenth century), stands on a site that has been a centre of Christian worship for over a thousand years. There's a brief history of the buildings here, some historical material about the community here, and information about some of the notable tombs in the churchyard here.

We are fortunate to have two active groups with particular interest in the heritage of the parish of Chiswick, both human and built.

The Archives Group care for the church records which go back several hundred years, and assist with frequent enquiries from descendants of former parishioners and others with interest in the history of the parish. The Archivists may be contacted by e-mail.

The Friends of St Nicholas Church, whose particular area of interest is the built heritage of the parish, are a registered charity in their own right. The Friends publish a regular newsletter, the latest copy of which is here.
