Chiswick Parish Church

Services at St Nicholas

Below is a description of our regular services. For a calendar of our services this month please follow this link

Sunday Services

8.00 am: Eucharist

A said service, with a sermon, using the contemporary liturgy from Common Worship.

10.30 am: Parish Mass

At the 10.30 am service we use modern services and readings with traditional music and ceremonial. The laity play a full part and children, who are admitted to Holy Communion from about the age of seven, are most welcome.

Teaching for school-age children is given in the "Time at Ten Thirty" Sunday School held in a house adjacent to the church, after which the children rejoin the service in time for the Communion.  For younger children a crèche is available in the choir vestry or alternatively there is a carpeted area with a selection of toys in the north aisle where children may play quietly during the service.

Fairtrade coffee and tea are served after the Parish Mass.

5.00 pm: Evening Prayer

Evening Prayer following the order of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer.  On most Sundays this is a largely said service (though we generally sing one unaccompanied hymn) with a reading or reflection in place of a sermon.  Once a month the service is fully choral, with a sermon.  For Choral Evensong the choir rehearses in church from 3.45 pm, and singers are welcome to attend the rehearsal and join with the choir to sing the service.

Weekday Services

Praise and Play for parents and toddlers on Tuesdays from 10am is a service of Holy Communion with time for fellowship and play.
